Game Of Thrones Characters: Where Are They Now?

There have been so many characters in Game Of Thrones it’s hard to keep track. The rich tapestry of interconnected stories combined with the really weird medieval sounding names means a lot of people struggle to remember who most of them even are. Seriously, do you know what Sir Friendzone’s real name is? Thought not.

But there are some characters who we will always we will hold dear to our heart. Of course there is the main cast, I mean who hasn’t enjoyed seeing Maisie Williams grow from precocious tomboy Arya Stark to killer assassin, or Sophie Turner’s transformation from the naïve Sansa Stark to the badass, Ramsey-killing queen of the North.

But what happens to the other minor characters like Oberyn Martell who were killed off just as we grew to love them?

We have rounded up the some of the best loved GoT actors to find out what happened after they left the show.

Gendry

Played by: Joe Dempsie

Last seen: Rowing

Where is he now? The bastard son of Robert Baratehon was saved from ritual scrifice by Sir Davos Seaworth who put him in a row boat and told him to keep going until he reached land. That was four seasons ago. There have perpetually been rumours of a come back for Gengry (who must have arms the size of oak trees buy now) but nothing has been confirmed. Joe Demspie meanwhile has was last seen on drama series One Of Us.

Joffery Baratheon

Played by: Jack Gleeson

Last seen: Choking on some poisoned pie at his own wedding

Where is he now? He terrorised our screens for four seasons as the sadistic child king with the most punchable face in Westeros, but despite rave reviews and no doubt countless offers, Jack Gleeson announced that he would be retiring from acting when he left Game Of Thrones. In 2015 his avant garde theatre company Collapsing Horse created a puppet show called Bears In Space, which was show in New York.

Played by: Natalie Dormer

Last seen: Being blown up at the Great Sept of Baelor

Where is she now? With roles in Game Of Thrones and The Tudors, Natalie Dormer seems like she was born to play a queen. There were even rumours that she was a distant relation to Jane Dormer, the lady in waiting to Queen Mary I, though Natalie has since debunked this herself, “There was a woman, called Jane Dormer, in the Royal Court who happened to have the same family name as me, but I think that's as far as it goes�? she said. As well as playing Margerey in Game Of Thrones, she also appeared alongside Jennifer Lawrence in the Hunger Games films and will soon be seen in Patient Zero, a fantasy horror film set to be released this year.

Last seen: Being hung for treason by Jon Snow

Where is he now? Ungrateful, back-stabbing, would-be member of the Knight’s Watch Olly was probably the most hated character on Game Of Thrones. Not only did he KILL Ygritte, he also plunged a knife into the heart of the Jon Snow. Amazingly he was able to get work after this, taking a role in 10-part BBC series Dickensian, which brought together beloved characters from work of Charles Dickens.

Rickon Stark

Played by: Art Parkinson

Last seen: Running for his life from the arrows of a ruthless Ramsey Bolton

Where is he now? After being off screen for three seasons, Rickon Stark (and his direwolf Shaggydog) finally came back only to be mercilessly betrayed by the Umbers and then used as bait to draw half brother Jon Snow into battle. Since leaving the show, Irish actor Art Parkinson, now 15 years old, has landed a role in historical war drama Zoo, set to be released later this year.

Last seen: Dying in the most undignified way

Where is she now? Screen legend Charles Dance OBE has appeared in classics like For Your Eyes Only, Alien 3 and The Golden Child before becoming Tywin Lannister, the cold-hearted head of the Lannister clan. After his rather undignified demise, he has appeared in Russian-Chinese fantasy adventure film Viy 2: Journey to China.

Last seen: Dying in the arms of her love, Jon Snow after being shot in the back by Olly (F--K You, Olly)

Where is she now? Brokenhearted shippers of Ygritte and Jon Snow found comport in Kit Harrington and Rose Leslie’s IRL romance. The pair confirmed they were seeing each other last year. Rose’s success goes from strength to strength as she landed a leading role in series 2 of cult Channel 4 drama, Utopia and in The Good Wife follow up, The Good Fight, due to start on More 4 at the end of the month.

Last seen: Being killed by ice zombies as his sister looked on helplessly

Where is he now? Thomas Brodie-Sangster may be remembered as future-seeing companion of Bran Stark, Jojen Reed, but let’s not overlook his first big-screen role, as Sam, the shy kid who ran through the airport to confess his love for the beautiful girl in Love Actually. He reprised this role in the Comic Relief follow up.

Last seen: At the Red Wedding after the Lannisters sent their regards.

Where is she now? Book fans may have been waiting for Michelle Fairley to return to GoT as Lady Stoneheart (the re-animated corpse of Catelyn Stark, brought back to life by Beric Dondarrion and the Brotherhood Without Banners), but as we approach the final two seasons of this looks increasingly unlikely. Actress Michelle Fairley meanwhile has been opposite Keifer Sutherland in 24: Live Another Day and in Fortitude.

Last seen: As an apparition in the House Of The Undying

Where is he now? Since leaving Game Of Thrones, Jason Momoa has remained tight with on-screen Moon-of-my-Life Emilia Clarke, occasionally posting their drunken nights together on his Instagram. He has gone on to continue his successful acting career with a role as Aquaman in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, a role he will reprise in the up-coming Justice League film, out later this year.

Last seen: Making the ultimate sacrifice and holding that door.

Where is he now? The origin story and ultimate death of gentle giant Hodor was one of GoT’s most shocking moments. Loved by fans and the cast alike, Kristian Nairm also a DJ and musician and tours the world with Rave Of Thrones – a special techno DJ set of the music from the show. You’ve never heard the Reigns Of Casteremere like this.

Where is he now? Since the Red Viper lost his duel with The Mountain in the most spectacularly gruesome way, actor Pedro Pascal has gone from one cult series to another, playing flawed detective Javier Pena in Netflix series Narcos.
