Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o was a vision at the 2018 SAG Awards but took the red carpet activism of recent months onto the main stage, announcing a new code of conduct for on set behaviour.

Joined by fellow Oscar Winner, Brie Larson to present the award for Best Ensemble in a Motion Picture the pair stated, “It gives us joy to celebrate portrayals… that show human nature with all its imperfections, and to do so with a union whose job it is to protect actors and they do that job.”

The new move comes after the Times Up movement has monopolised the award season agenda. The pair continued, “which is why were so excited to say that—with collaborations with Times Up and your union members here in this room—there will be a new code of conduct to ensure that there is safety on set," said Larson, adding, "so we can continue to be vulnerable, continue to be emphatic, and do the strong and great performances that we've seen brief glimpse of here tonight."

The actress, who won a SAG Award in 2014 for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, stole the spotlight ahead of the ceremony in a strapless and glimmering silver Ralph & Russo column dress with a sheer black feather-bearing train. Lupita will appear on screen next in the hotly anticipated Marvel film Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan and Chadwick Boseman, out in February.
