Summer saw a boom in kitten heels and, if you’re anything like me, you've probably bought several pairs in different colours. I love them so much, I don’t even feel guilty. Although, a slight snag now that autumn is around the corner. Enter, the sock boot trend. Like a kitten heel, only cosier.

Of course, there are plenty of amazing versions on the high street (check out our best sock boots edit to see them all), but it's the super-pricey Balenciaga pair that we're really after – they're in my dreams most nights. But I don't have £600+ to spare right now (or ever?). Thank god, after one particularly lengthy Insta-stalk I discovered this styling trick: Pair your kitten heels with the same colour sock.

I first saw Danish instagrammer Pernille Teisbaek trying this trick, she almost had me fooled into thinking she was wearing a pair of fabulous Balenciagas. The good news is you can pull it off for as little as £6 and can keep wearing your kittens all winter long.

We’re super into a logo socks — just be mindful to keep it chic: Zara’s black "whatevs" socks? Tick. "I love pugs"? Not so much.
