It wasn’t just that guests Cate Blanchett, Alicia Vikander, Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams, Lea Seydoux and Jaden Smith were amping up the glam. Or that we were in the deeply atmospheric medieval bowels of the Palais De Louvre. It was change in the fashion pace that made the Louis Vuitton show just so exhilarating.

As the big finale moment after four weeks of endless looks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, some good, some bad and some quite frankly, just plain ugly, it’s hard not to feel fashioned-out. What can there be that you haven’t seen before? But when the girls marched (really this is how they roll at LV) onto the catwalk, in metallic brocade tailcoats and chunky basketball trainers, it was like a stream of futuristic courtiers. The past meeting the future where and when it least it expected it.

Powerful in their structured frock-coats but agile in their sporty striped separates, even the floaty medieval princess dresses made the girls look like they were from another world. And if the Louis Vuitton X Supreme is anything to go by, expect to see a hell of a lot of those trainers running by very soon.
