Bright Eyes

Never one to shy away from forward-thinking trends, Brit-model Aggy sent her brilliant blue liner flying with wings. Base was kept fresh with concealer-covered lips and softly sculpted cheekbones. Senior Artist at MAC, Pablo Rodriguez, tips us on getting this look:

"This look is all about a sculpted liner, so try to avoid any bright or dark coloured eyeshadows. Apply a small amount of concealer and set with powder. Start applying MAC Liquidlast liner very thinly in the inner corner of the lash line and as you go out, make the line a bit thicker finishing with a thin flick going upwards. Apply a small amount of the same liner on the bottom lashes, concentrating on the outer corner, to get a feline eye shape."

If you want a right-now trend, fresh from the spring summer catwalks, then whip out your coloured pencils and get eye-drawing with sea greens and sky blues, just like Leona Lewis. Icy turquoise eyes were all the rage at Louise Goldin, with Peter Jensen opting for deep-sea blue as the hottest eye shade of the summer.

Make-up artist Liz Pugh advises not to match pencil to peepers but offers these wearable rules instead: "If you have blue eyes try turquoise, for green eyes wear bright blue and brown eyes look great with navy and green-y blues."

Rihanna rocks expressive make-up and usually paints some serious shapes in hot-to-trot shades. For The Met Ball she winged a deep jade shadow east and west for a disco look worth hitting the dancefloor with. This block of defined colour on the eyelids is straight off the catwalk with a touch of Eighties too.

Some skins can just carry off vivid make-up like Alesha Dixon. Purple and aqua-green lined eyes and bubblegum pink slicked on lips. Wearing eye colour as eyeliner not shadow means you can get away with much more.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor simply has no colour rules so it's quite the norm for her to simultaneously splash out on eyes and lips. A touch of marine green slicked over eyes, a pop of glossy pink lips and bare cheeks and brows balanced this pretty spring look.
