We’ve all been there - sneaking a sniff of our SO’s jumper when they leave the room, or even sleeping with it if they’re on a long trip. Even if you’re not one of those, you know exactly what comes to mind when we say ‘boyfriend tee’; that smoky yet sharp, musky masculine smell that you can’t quite describe in its entirety.
Victoria’s Secret have managed to find the exact ‘Boyfriend T-Shirt’ scent, make it into their own blend, and use it as part of their latest fragrance, aptly named Love. With notes of fresh juniper, apricot blush and lavender rose, the initial effect is sweet and romantic, with the sharper masculine blend subtly cutting through in all its pheromonal glory.
Mark Knitowski, VS's in-house fragrance guru, told us everything we need to know about the mysterious Boyfriend T-Shirt Accord, or blend. "The Boyfriend T-shirt accord is a methodical blend of watery and aromatic notes that balances masculine tones and provide a unique freshness," says Mark. "It was the foundation of how we built the LOVE fragrance and provide a unique, definable signature to LOVE that is unlike anything else. The Boyfriend T-shirt accord was then blended with a perfect balance of floral and fruity to give it that more romantic, forever young, sexy femininity."
The bottle’s a bit fancier than the brand’s previous launches with its elevated glass base, and the fragrance itself is the perfect millennial pink. For the campaign, all your favourite Angels like Candice and Alessandra, were interviewed about their own personal love stories - with Lily Aldridge spilling about the very first time she met now-husband Caleb Followill, frontman of Kings Of Leon. Too damn cute.
As well as the EDP, Love also comes as a body cream, lotion, rollerball and solid fragrance, plus a Love shade of their Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain.
