Jimmy Choo & Off-White's Collab Is Major #Shoefie Goals
He's created sunglasses with Warby Parker, windbreakers with Moncler, sneakers with Blank Canvas and even a bag with Ikea and earlier this week Virgil Abloh, the Creative Director of Off-White, added Jimmy Choo to his list of collaborations. Teaming up with the iconic shoe brand, the collection was unveiled at the brand's spring summer 2018 show in Paris earlier this week.
Citing the late Diana, Princess of Wales as his muse for his SS18 collection, Abloh partnered with Jimmy Choo, Diana's go-to shoe brand to create a footwear collection, the first time Jimmy Choo has worked with a ready-to-wear label.
'To collaborate with a brand like Off-White™ allows Jimmy Choo to explore a new avenue and take part in a different conversation,' Sandra Choi, Creative Director Jimmy Choo says. 'I love to mix it up by getting together with a different creative mind identifying our synergies and combining our DNA to create a beautiful and surprising collection with unexpected links to the roots of our brand.'
Abloh hinted at the collab in the days leading up to his show, when he shared an image of his moodboard on Instagram, a screenshot from Disney’s Cinderella when Prince Charming puts the glass slipper on her foot, captioning it "Off-White™ c/o @JimmyChoo ~ "moodboard image." He later posted a photo of pairs of pumps with the Jimmy Choo label.
The full results were shown as part of Abloh's runway show. Featuring twenty-seven options including knee-high stiletto boots swathed in black tulle and pointy-toe satin pumps wrapped in PVC look like glass, they are available to pre-order now on Jimmy Choo's website until Wednesday with prices starting from £550. With his previous collaborations selling out within minutes, this is one way of guaranteeing you'll be owning the hottest heels come 2018. Otherwise, expect to join one hell of a queue come February when they hit stores.
