Princess Diana’s 1987 Cannes Film Festival dress auctions for £81k!
Two of Princess Diana’s dresses, created by one of the princess’s favourite designers Catherine Walker, have been sold at auction for over £80k each at an auction house in LA.
Princess Diana was elegant as ever at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival wearing a powder blue bandeau chiffon dress with matching scarf. And on the eve of this year’s festival, that very dress has been sold at auction for £81k.
Bought by an unnamed museum from the LA auction house, Julien’s Auctions, the same museum also bought the embroidered black crepe evening gown that Princess Diana wore on a State visit to India in 1992.
Catherine Walker was the label Kate Middleton’s mother Carol chose to wear at the Royal Wedding. Whether it was a polite reference to Prince William’s late mother or not, both women certainly had good taste.
