Meghan Markle's Style Evolution: From Suits Star To Princess

As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announce their engagement, it seems the perfect time to revisit the future royal's style transformation.

Meghan has certainly had an unusual journey to becoming a ‘possible Princess.’ After a few smaller roles in CSI: NY and 90210, where in one scene she was caught conducting a ‘sexual act’ on a male character, Meghan secured the role of Rachel Zane in the lawyer based drama, Suits. After six seasons in the show, Meghan has a hugely popular television actress.

Aside from acting, the future MRS. Prince Harry (working title) has lent her famous profile to a number of charitable causes. Having recently closed her lifestyle website, The Tig, where Meghan was editor-in-chief role, the Canadian actress has had time to act as a global ambassador for World Vision Canada. If she didn’t seem Princess Diana enough already Markle is also an advocate for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment.

Directly comparing Meghan to the late Princess of Wales does seem lazy but aside from the active charity work they do share a certain flair for fashion and this aspect of her character has caught the public imagination.

Indeed, after Prince Harry confirmed his relationship with Meghan in a rather ‘charged’ statement released by Kensington Palace in 2016, Meghan became one of the most Googled actresses of the year.

‘Matchy Meghan’ is certainly one way you can categorize her style. Her red carpet appearances are awash with matchy-matchy head to toe hues, for instance. Despite showing a quite relaxed style (note her Mother jeans for her first official public appearance with Prince Harry) Meghan isn’t a stranger to designer clobber, given her regular FROW appearances at New York Fashion Week.

Attire aside, the Suits actress is a big fan of a jolly good blow dry. The rest of her beauty routine appears rather laid back (her favourite moisturizer costs less than £10!) but her penchant for an empowering accessory is anything but. Both aspects of her look do seem very similar to her Suits character… it’s safe to say she means serious sartorial business.
