Milan Fashion Week highlights: Missoni, Roberto Cavalli and Moschino
Tuesday 2 March, 2010
Missoni
Knitwear of every describable stitch walked the runway at Missoni as the design house showed off its signature skill in knitwear design. The inspiration was 'Africa meets Scotland, folk meets punk' and the show illustrated these references with Masai-warrior style capes, outsized patterns in knits reminiscent of celtic styles while outsized kilt pins holding everything together. Dark, almost purple lips added a punky element.

Robert Cavalli
Lindsay Lohan and Courtney Love sat front row at the Roberto Cavalli show which featured a fair few pieces the pair are surely dying to wear. The collection was a riot of clashing, faded animal prints, brocades, devore and fur all layered the one over the other for that boho-luxe decadence that Cavalli does so well. Skinny, toeless shoeboots added a cool girl edge to the collection while harem pants and nonchalantly draped scarves added to the lush, laidback feel.

Moschino
Black cowboy hats and blackout shades were worn with everything from ruffled evening gowns to Chanel-esque skirt suits at Moschino. Rossella Jardini kept all the label's signature kook in this collection but mainly through humorous accessories; clothes were seriously wearable with the little black dresses and statement leopard print coats all sure to be huge commercial hits for the A/W season.
