Anne Hathaway to play Judy Garland

Anne Hathaway has confirmed that she's to portray the legendary actress and singer Judy Garland in Get Happy: The Life of Judy Garland. Hathaway spilled the beans on this career role at the Tony Awards last Sunday, saying: "I think I'm either naive or insane to play her - maybe a little bit of both."
She also revealed that to prepare for the part she will be getting cosy with Judy Garland's daughter, Liza Minnelli. "I haven't had a chance to talk to her about it yet, but I understand that as long as I treat Judy with respect - which of course I will - Liza is very happy about it."
With critically acclaimed films like Rachel Getting Married and Brokeback Mountian, plus a Best Actress Oscar nomination, already under her belt, we reckon Hathaway will be a natural at playing Judy. One question remains - can she sing? Watch this space!
