The award-winning singer and actress on her love for Crete, performing for half a million people, and how yoga keeps her sane and happy.

Anyone else feeling those seasonal blues really starting to creep in? Thought so. We need a pick-me-up so asked the lovely Pixie Lott to share some of her tips for travel and happiness.

Pixie Lott's Guide To Happiness

Performing on stage gives me unique joy – the bigger the crowd the better! I still have the chills from our show in Madrid with David Bisbal, where we sang in front of half a million people.

The creative process behind every new single is also something that lifts my spirits. My brand new single “Won't Forget You”, featuring Stylo G, has a very uptempo and fun sound, despite the fact that the lyrics are about a relationship coming to an end. But the point is to appreciate both good and bad times and try not to forget all the memories. My best friend relates to the song so much and I hope lots of other people will do as well.

Traveling is the best way to expand your mind. Seeing different things and meeting new people is so invigorating. I love going away with Oliver (Cheshire) because we both get to experience the same things and grow together. Traveling with my family is also something that I do as often as possible.

I can be both relaxed and adventurous when going to a new destination. I love exploring and seeing new cultures, experimenting with food and going to places off the beaten path – but I can also spend an entire day by the pool enjoying a delicious piña colada.

When on holidays, I always make sure my luggage is loaded with accessories! Lots of sunglasses, headbands, headscarves, scrunchies, earrings and so on. They instantly spice up any look and make it a lot more fun.

I was recently in Crete at Domes of Elounda and fell in love with the serenity and beauty of the place. The pool in our suite, the beautiful waters at the private beach, and the sushi at their Asian restaurant were on top of my list.

The people and the beaches in Crete are amazing – and so is the food! I could eat fresh fish and Greek salads everyday. All the ingredients are always so fresh and taste so much better.

My must-have beauty products when traveling are a curl cream and diffuser for hair, a Chanel brightening primer with SPF for make-up and eye gel packs for that dreary jet lag. As for my cheap and chic secret product, that's dry shampoo – it always revives your hair!

Hunza G is my favourite swimwear brand at the moment because of their flattering cuts and shapes and the way the crinkle fabric sits on your body! I also adore Lisa Marie Fernandez for her designs and last, but definitely not least, Melissa Obadash, who always has your go-to designs for all year round trips.

My favourite souvenir is a little tiny chapel from my visit to Crete last summer. It sits by my television and is looking really cute!

I mix up my holiday playlist during each trip, but for some reason Beyoncé’s album '4' was really stuck on repeat on our trip to Cyprus. We played it the whole time! Also, I always randomly play Fall Out Boy when I’m going over the bridge to Manhattan from the airport because it gets me really excited! Last but not least, there are two songs associated with holidays while growing up: Livin la Vida Loca by Ricky Martin and Faith by George Michael – my mum used to play them.

I like to wear colourful and fun pieces when I'm on holiday! And I plead guilty for always trying to wear new stuff each year because it feels much fresher.

Going to New York during Christmas is something I always look forward to. There's a certain magic in the air that's hard to describe with words (it's much like Disneyland!).

As for breath-taking scenary, it's hard to beat the view from Verbier mountains or from Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. Also, Capri in Italy is simply stunning!

Yoga is always my go-to activity when I need to take some time off and unwind. It's simply an amazing thing to do to help your body and mind.

My tips for staying happy in life are: play music loud, try not to take things that don’t matter too seriously, drink lots of water, smile more and do yoga as often as possible!
