Nelson Mandela celebrated his 90th birthday in the company of celebrity heavyweights including Will Smith, Oprah and Robert De Niro in London.
Hancock star Will Smith acted as auctioneer at the charity event, where pieces including a life-size bronze bust of Mr Mandela's right hand, designed to reflect the way he has touched the world, and an oil painting went under the hammer. Also up for grabs was Mr Mandela's personal vision for world peace for a six-fugure sum. Proceeds from the event will go to Aids charity, 46664, the numbers for which stand for Mr Mandela's prison number (466) and the year (64) when he was imprisoned on Robben Island. Singer Leona Lewis, who is due to perform at the charity concert on Friday, looked stunning in a coral pink maxi-dress cinched at the waist with a gold belt, and was very much at ease mingling with the presidents, prime ministers and Hollywood stars in attendance.
