STRAP SENSE
Metal straps are the most hard-wearing. The strongest is platinum, followed by steel, then 18-carat gold. "Some stainless-steel watches are nickel-plated and can cause an allergic reaction. Check that the level of nickel is within EU guidelines," says Yann Siliec, creative director at Georg Jensen. Alternatively, rubber straps are more comfortable to wear and increasingly stylish.
