Ponytails

The beauty of Nicole Richie's do is that so long as your hair is neat at the front it's fine for it fall natural and messy at the back. If you don't have naturally long locks, this look can be helped out with some strategically placed extensions - as long as they match your hair colour perfectly.

InStyle Tip

To recreate her Sixties-inspired pony, don't make the mistake of blow-drying your hair as normal and then tying it up - prep first with a volumising mousse from roots to ends and blow-dry it, pulling up and back as you go. Sweep the fringe forward and smooth down, but backcomb at the crown for some serious volume before pinning the ponytail low down at the nape of the neck.
