How To AW15 Your Wardrobe On A Budget

The skinny scarf is the way to update your wardrobe this season. For day or night, and any style - as seen on the catwalks, here's our pick of the high street best... And how to wear them

On a post-summer, pre-Christmas budget but bored SICK of your wardrobe? There’s only one thing you need – and it’s a skinny scarf.

They first came onto our radar at Prada’s AW14 show, then in Saint Laurent’s SS15 collection, and then worked their way onto the necks of the Instagrammers, bloggers and A-listers in the fashion crowd.

By AW15, they were having a big moment; worn with seventies separates at Bottega Veneta, with an eveningwear twist at Chloe and with bold geometric prints at Temperley London.

The best thing about the skinny scarf revival is this time, it’s for all styles. As if its versatility wasn’t demonstrated enough on the catwalk, everyone from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to Kate Moss has been spotted styling one up recently.

‘Once in a while an accessory comes along, that if purchased, will breathe a whole new life in to your wardrobe. An instant freshener. That item of the moment is the skinny scarf,’ said InStyle's fashion editor Amy Bannerman

‘It’s a bit Noel Fielding, a bit Jamie Hince/Kate Moss hybrid. It doesn’t really matter what else you wear, just an old pair of jeans, a t shirt and one of these, will make you look incredibly up-to-date in the style stakes. That’s the beauty of it!’.

In fact, Kate – trend setter – has been wearing skinny scarves for years now; the perfect accessory for her timeless rock-inspired wardrobe.

Though there’s pricey ones on the catwalk, we’ve rounded up a pick of budget-friendly styles from the high street…
