London Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2012
Roksanda Ilincic - London Fashion Week
Roksanda Ilincic has been racking up the red carpet credits of late (Rooney Mara, Carey Mulligan, Ginnifer Goodwin, Keira Knightley, Amber Heard) and we predict her trajectory will continue with the coming Autumn Winter season.
In a nutshell, the collection was to die for. The designer’s love of volume continued, with balloon sleeves adorning blouses, dresses and even sweatshirts, midiskirts gaining full proportions and wool skirts finished off with peplums in silk and (wait for it) fur.
Despite the voluminous proportions, there was plenty of movement in the collection, with satin gowns colour-blocked in navy and emerald or purple looking slinkier (and more red carpet-ready) than ever. The colour scheme was seriously expensive-looking, with burgundy, fawn, forest green and mink as the mainstays and the odd dash of magenta and turquoise to brighten things up. Teamed with mustard shoes, it was an unexpected triumph.
Despite signature Roksanda accents, such as exposed zips and draped necklines, there was a definite sign of innovation, with sportier pieces like hooded sweatshirts (albeit lined in fur), baseball jackets and sporty tops emblazoned with the RI initials teamed with more ladylike pieces such as a turquoise sequins checked pencil skirt. Soon to be seen on a celebrity near you.
