It was all about stars at Hilfiger's rock'n roll-filled show yesterday. They were printed onto kaftans, spray-painted onto the model's cheekbones and even marked out in lightbulbs which lit up the cavernous New York venue. Then of course there were the other kind of stars, sitting front row with their iphones poised – in the middle, Alexa Chung who had taken over Tommy's instagram account for the day - and strutting down the catwalk in see-through kaftans (hello, Kendall Jenner).
Georgia Jagger opened the show in oil-slick burgundy heels and a matching cape, strutting along to tracks by her Dad's band the Rolling Stones, while Bryan Ferry's son Tara provided percussion on his drumkit. Despite the heavy late Sixties / early Seventies theme there was still a hint of Tommy preppiness in the abundant stripes – horizontal blue and red striped tops, striped blazers in deep school uniform red, as well as gold ones running down the full-length frocks. Brit rock rebels meets upper east side cool. A pretty starry combo.
