Street style is one of the best things about New York Fashion Week — see our favourite looks here

With New York Fashion Week in full swing, all eyes are on the street-stylers and what they're wearing this season. A lot of wardrobe lessons can be learned from those pounding the pavements across the four cities during fashion month, so it's worth keeping an eye on them before you purchase your entire new season wardrobe.

What we've spotted so far:

A tonne of tailoring

From fashion editors to bloggers, the ladies are power dressing this season in the form of double breasted blazers and two-piece pant suits. Take it into spring and opt for 'sorbet suiting' (that's mint green, lilac or baby pink). Yum.

Wipe Down Fabrics

Plastic, wet-look leather and PVC-coated fabrics are go this season. Rocking up mostly in the form of trench coats, aviator jackets and raincoats, they don't stop there. PVC boots and wet-look leather trousers are still also making an appearance and we're obsessed.

The IT dress

From Magda Butrym to Off-White, these stand-out asymmetrical one-pieces were everywhere over summer and they're back for 2018 too. Styled with a skinny stiletto boots, the fash-pack are layering with jeans or trousers for a cool-girl spin.

Colour Confidence

Gone are the days that if you work in fashion, you just wear black. And this season may be the boldest, most colourful yet – especially for winter. The key is to opt for bold block colours and to clash your accessories.

Cowboy Boots

Yep, they're back. We've spotted a couple of Western styles being rocked already and we feel there's more to come. Beat the rain and keep it cool at the same time.
