Zooey Deschanel has created a capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger
Zooey Deschanel has turned her hand to fashion design, and created a capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger. Now this really is one celebrity collaboration to get excited about.
The New Girl actress has designed 16 dresses that will be available from Macy's on April 14 and then online at Tommy.com on April 21.
Fans of Deschanel's retro, feminine style will be pleased to know that the collection will remain true to the actress's vintage aesthetic.
'They are Sixties-inspired short dresses,' Hilfiger told WWD.
'There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics. They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy - really from the Sixties in London. That's not something we would normally put in our regular sportswear line - maybe we'd be inspired by the Sixties for the runway, but it's a new way to look at fun, American classics.'
'I am a fashion fanatic, and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe, Zooey told WWD.
'Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations - old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons - and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece.'
The dresses, each of which is named after one of Zooey's friends, will range from $98 to $199.
That's our spring wardrobe sorted then...
