Following Christopher Kane's departure it's been announced that JW Anderson will design a capsule fashion collection for Versus, launching next year
It's shaping up to be a momentous week for British fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, as after receiving the Emerging Talent British Fashion Award he's now been named as Versus' new design partner.
Of her new recruit, Donatella Versace commented: “I keep a close eye on young talent, and have been impressed by Jonathan’s work over the last couple of years."
“Versus is all about fun, change, and digital. I can’t wait to present this collaboration!” She expanded.
The fashion collection will include mens and women's ready-to-wear and accessories and will mark the first in a string of collaborations to run following Christopher Kanes' departure.
James has a loyal clan of famous followers, including It-girls Alexa Chung and Leigh Lezark, and if the response to his diffusion line for high street fashion favourite Topshop, which launched earlier this year, is anything to go by, then predict a sell-out.
The designer has already touted a campaign shot by Bruce Weber with Donatella in 1996 as his inspiration for the collection: "For me,” said Jonathan, “this iconic image says it all, that's how I see Versus. It's all about the relationship between a boy and a girl, a girl and a girl, a boy and a boy. Purity."
The fashion collection will be presented in March/April 2013 in New York - no doubt we'll see JW's signature preppy aesthetic take on a glam Versus twist.
