Zara has long held the crown of being one of our favourite high street brands, but we're preparing to make room on the pedestal for their sister store, Uterqüe. Haven't heard of it before? We're not entirely surprised — without any UK-based stores, it's easy to have let this amazing fashion destination pass you by. However, for AW15, the Spanish label has *really* stepped up its game and, after a swift succession of successful seasons, its autumn/winter collection looks set to be its best yet.
Ok, so you may not be able to actually go in-store to try on its garb but its online shop (which ships to the UK for the amount you'd expect from, well, Zara) is just as easy to navigate as the other fashion labels in Inditex's string of brands, making it super easy to shop the entire collection.
And while the design aesthetic of many of the pieces echos the indisputably cool vibe of Zara's lines, Uterqüe's focus on sleek silhouettes, sharp tailoring, expensive materials and grown-up wardrobes gives it the sophisticated edge over the two. Basically, it's like Zara's 'studio' collection, but with way more choice.
Of course, with luxe fabrics and enhanced design focus, the price-points are generally higher than that of its sister labels but, aside from a £975 fur coat, 99.9% of the collection is properly affordable. We're talking £100 for a high-end leather bag, £115 for its could-be-designer heels and anything from £80 for a chic going out dress.
This season saw the label host its very first UK press event, which allowed fashion journalists, stylists and blogging stars to get up-close and very personal with the upcoming AW15 range for the first time. And what we saw left us weak at the knees...
Getting minimal style just right without being borderline boring isn't easy, but Uterqüe nails the paired back trend like no other brand can, all the while being instantly recognisable. From woollen coats and glorious knitwear to butter-soft leathers and stunning dresses, Uterqüe's got all of your autumnal style needs sussed. And that's before we even get to the accessories.
From velco strap kicks and front split boots to marble plate necklaces, every add on is achingly cool and oozes a 'I just threw this on and it looks sh*t hot' vibe. Basically all of our getting dressed goals, then.
Now that the new collection has started to drop, we're preparing ourselves for months spent avoiding the red in our bank statements. However, by the looks of this gorgeous lot, it's not going to be easy. Oh, and to save you any embarrassment when you're telling your friends the virtually unknown place that you snapped up that hot new handbag or killer skirt, here's how to pronounce its name...
Uterqüe, where have you been all our lives?
