London’s simply wizard war-time night out The Blitz Party is gearing up for this Saturday – and it’s gonna be a blast (arf arf). The venue? A wartime East End air-raid shelter, complete with sandbags, searchlights, blackout curtains, oil lamps and military bunk beds.
Swing bands, DJs and performers will get you lindy-hopping and jitter-bugging to big band tunes, while The Spitfire Bar will serve Kentish Ale and hearty food – no rations here, ma’am.
If you fancy dancing with a be-medalled man in uniform, then don your best tea-dress and get thee to the Village Underground in Shoreditch this Saturday 30 January from 8pm.
You could paint your legs with gravy and paint a line up ’em with kohl pencil, but we at InStyle will only go so far in the name of authenticity. Try faux-vintage lingerie brand What Katie Did for real seamed stockings, £12.50.
(Of course, if the 40s isn’t your thing, there’s always Prohibition in February for a bit of 20s Jazz Age glam…)
