Dana Scully: working SS15's trends since 1993
We were thrilled to learn earlier this year that one of our favourite TV shows from the Nineties is set to return. After thirteen years apart, Mulder and Scully will be reunited for a six part series. Yay! We used to be fascinated by Dana Scully’s (often, though not always) frumpy wardrobe, but turns out she was a trailblazer for 2015’s summer trends. Don’t believe us? Read on…
The Frock Coat
Edwardian styles are a MASSIVE trend this summer, thanks mainly to Raf Simon’s glorious collection for Dior. Scully rocked the longer-length fitted jacket, and she even had era-specific covered buttons on her cuffs. #details
The Wide Collar Shirt
Wide collars were huge on the catwalk (literally), and no-where more so than at Louis Vuitton. Scully might not have been a fan of those bold prints, but she sure knew how to deal with a large collar on a shirt.
The Brown Suit
A Scully classic this one, and with the Seventies being so popular at the moment, brown is a colour that’s easy to find in both high street and catwalk collections. This particular ensemble is from Max Mara’s summer collection.
The Khaki Shirt
Towards the end of The X-Files, Scully’s wardrobe loosened up a bit – here she is looking a little more off-duty (and very Marc Jacobs s/s2015) in a khaki shirt and jeans.
The Beige Silk Top
Gillian Anderson was a fan of the silk shirt long before we all became obsessed with her character Stella Gibson wearing them in The Fall. We predict more shiny blouses when Scully is reincarnated in the new series, though we’re hoping she’ll have upgraded to Stella McCartney.
