If you thought you were the kind of person who would never buy red roses on Valentine's Day, we think we've just found the story that will change your mind.
After looking for the beautiful Red Naomi rose to send to her loved ones this February 14th, and finding that the big florists were selling them for an eye-watering £40 a stem, budding entrepreneur Sophie Rumble decided to set up her own online shop so that her, and others like her, could all afford to send that special someone a rose on St Val's Day.
Just a week-and-a-half later, Sophie had managed to negotiate with producers in Holland, set up her own website, and secure 1000 blooms that she could sell at half the price of the big retailers.
Sophie then pledged to offer a £1,000 cash prize if she managed to sell all 1,000 roses.
Now, the newly-trained florist has decided to give all the profits to breast cancer charity, Maggie's, in memory of her mother, who died of the disease when Sophie was just 11.
So, if you want to treat someone special to a beautiful (and bargainous) rose, as well as contribute to worthy cause, this is for you. Visit 1000redroses.com, and make a lot of people's Valentine's Day very happy...
