The countdown to Christmas has begun! Claridge’s has just revealed that the latest designer to be taking a bash at the famous Christmas tree that decks the halls (see what we did there) of the hotel lobby will be none other that Burberry’s chief creative and chief executive officer, Christopher Bailey.
Following in the footsteps of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana, John Galliano for Christian Dior and Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz, Christopher Bailey will be giving the tree an English spin.
Burberry’s tree will explore the relationship between light and dark, and will comprise of over 100 umbrellas, each finished in gold and silver fabric.
"We wanted the tree to reflect the playfulness of the season with a little bit of the English weather thrown in. We also love the idea that the tree comes to life as guests pass by bringing a wonderful touch of festive magic to their stay."
And as for being selected for the honour of decorating the tree? "Christmas is one of my favourite times of year so I was delighted to be asked to design the Claridge's Christmas Tree - the iconic hotel celebrating a joyful time," explained Bailey.
We can’t wait to see it!
