The Oscars of the fashion world paid homage to America's contribution to fashion last night.
Last night saw the 2009 CFDA Fashion Awards take place in New York. America's top designers and the world's most stylish celebrities congregated to celebrate the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts.
Kirsten Dunst paid tribute to the Mulleavy sisters who walked away with the coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, wearing their figure-cinching Rodarte dress (also modelled by Reese Witherspoon of late). Proenza Schouler scooped the accessories award, while Marc Jacobs went home with the International Award for his work at Louis Vuitton.
New boy on the block Alexander Wang walked away with the Emerging Talent Award for Womenswear, while it was a tie for the Menswear Designer of the Year Award with Scott Sternberg for Band of Outsiders and Italo Zucchelli for Calvin Klein Collection coming joint first place.
There was also a host of hits on the red carpet as the likes of Diane Kruger, Ashley Olsen and model Coco Rocha smouldered in a number of fiery red frocks.
