Eight months on and it’s clear that the world is still mourning the loss of British designer Alexander McQueen. Fashion’s A-list, including Kate Moss, Sarah Jessica Parker, Naomi Campbell and Stella McCartney, took a break from London Fashion Week to join the throngs of family members and friends at the designer’s memorial service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London this morning.
Anna Wintour and Suzy Menkes gave addresses, Bjork sang moving song in a long feathered dress, while a big gospel choir and bagpipes ushered people out.
Black was obviously the colour of choice for the event, with Kate donning a leather skirt and matching plunging tuxedo jacket and SJP topping her cream dress with a black coat.
There was also a smattering of kilts in the crowd, McQueen’s signature garment, in homage to his Scottish roots.
McQueen passed away on February 12 of this year, just a week after the death of his beloved mother.
