Cara Delevingne's Mulberry Bag
To celebrate its 5th birthday, the designer resale site Vestiairecollective.com has launched StyleCycle, a campaign to support sustainability in fashion by encouraging women to recycle their wardrobes. Starting with a charity auction the site has teamed up with 50 global style influencers such as Suki Waterhouse and Claudia Schiffer, giving bidders the chance to buy a piece from their enviable wardrobes. The proceeds from the sale will then be donated to a charity of the insiders choice including Action for Hunger, Kid's Company and Starlight Children's Foundation.
Pieces we've got our eye on include a form-fitting black Balenciaga dress from Kim Kardashian, Cara Delevingne's camo Mulberry backpack and Emmanuelle Alt's Christopher Kane buckle bag.
Through the campaign the site aims to encourage more women to recycle their premium designer pieces alongside picking up some pre-loved pieces they may have previously missed. It's estimated that almost 30% of clothing in the average wardrobe hasn't been worn over a year whilst the average lifespan of a typical piece of clothing is only 2.2 years. Extending the lifespan of a garment by just nine months can make a substantial difference to its resource impact.
Since the site launched in 2009 it has become Europe’s leading trusted site for the resale of designer and premium fashion, putting authenticity and quality control at the centre of the business.
The StyleCycle campaign kicks off on the 6th November and runs until the 14th.
