Selfridges unveils world's biggest shoe hall

The luxury London department store reveals the home of 55,000 pairs of shoes with a swinging party

55,000 pairs of shoes. 150 brands. 11 designer boutiques. 35,000 square feet. We. Are. In. Heaven.

Luxury department store Selfridges last night unveiled its brand new and colossal (as in bigger than the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall!) shoe hall with a swinging party on the eve of London Fashion Week.

A live performance by Paolo Nutini, star appearances by Dame Vivienne Westwood, Donna Air and Alexandra Burke, a chorus of ballerinas pirouetting to the music and even a cocktail magician (watch your drink change colour!) ensured that this was a night to remember for the hoards of media types and fashionistas who attended the bash.

InStyle’s own team drooled over the 4,000 shoes on display from the likes of Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent while supping on succulent lobster bites, mozzarella and tomato salads and sipping the most delicious dirty Martinis EVER.

Jealous? Don’t be! From 23 September you too will be able to feast your eyes (and feet) on the exhaustive selection of boots, heels, sandals and flats from over 150 high street and designer brands, including Topshop, All Saints, LK Bennett, Rupert Sanderson and Chanel. Let the countdown begin!
