Yesterday’s 83rdAcademy Awards Nominees Luncheon proved that this year’s Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress line-up must be the best dressed in Hollywood history.
From Black Swan star Natalie Portman, who swathed her baby bump in a beautiful teal shirt dress by Lanvin, to Michelle William, who worked chic Chanel separates, and a Valentino-clad Amy Adams, the stars demonstrated they can do designer daywear as deftly as they can tackle dramatic gowns on the red carpet.
And it’s not just veterans like Nicole Kidman, who stood out in a printed flute-shaped Yves Saint Laurent dress and strappy sandals – even newcomers like Jennifer Lawrence (sporting Chloe) and 14-year-old Hailee Steinfeld (in an age-appropriate LBD) struck just the right fashion tone for the Beverly Hills event.
And let’s not forget the boys! This year’s round-up includes some seriously dapper dudes. Proud new papa Javier Bardem (Best Actor nominee for Biutiful), Colin Firth (Best Actor nominee for The King’s Speech), Jesse Eisenberg (Best Actor nominee for The Social Network), James Franco (Best Actor nominee for 127 Hours) and Mark Whalberg (Best Supporting Actor nominee for The Fighter) stuck to classic but ever-chic black and navy suits.
The annual luncheon has totally whetted our appetite for the stunning designer gowns that await us on the Oscars red carpet at the end of this month.
