Saint Laurent has cast British singer-songwriter and 60s icon Marianne Faithfull as the new face of its Music Project.
Faithfull follows in the footsteps of Courtney Love, Chuck Berry, Kim Gordon, Marilyn Manson and Christopher Owens who have all fronted the Music Project campaign before.
The 67-year-old is more than qualified for the role: music credits aside, Faithfull is an ex-girlfriend of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger and has arguably been channelling Hedi Slimane's Saint Laurent rock chick aesthetic as fas back as the mid-Sixties (see Faithfull's film Girl On A Motorcycle for some great leather looks).
Clearly the perfect fit for the brand, our only question is why haven't they collaborated before now?
This move sees Saint Laurent join Marc Jacobs, American Apparel and Nars in choosing a more mature model for its campaign, suggesting that the industry is truly beginning to eradicate boundaries when it comes to ideas of age and beauty.
