Rihanna can now legitimately boast the title of fashion icon, since the Council of Fashion Designers of America announced that it will be presenting the 26-year-old with the Fashion Icon Award at this year's awards ceremony on 2 June.
The Bajan beauty certainly doesn't need to prove her fashion credentials, what with her glossy campaign for Balmain, collections for River Island, and her own MAC make-up line – but these no doubt helped RiRi bag the coveted CFDA award.
A recent string of super-stylish appearances at on the frow at Paris Fashion Week – from Miu Miu, Lanvin, Chanel to Dior, Jean Parul Gaultier and Comme des Garcons – only cemented Rihanna's status as one of the best-dressed celebrities around.
The Bajan pop star follows in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Iman and Lady Gaga as a recipient of the Fashion Icon Award. And we think it's well deserved.
