John Galliano's show rounded off Paris Fashion Week in spectacular style

Paris Fashion Week has been a fun-filled fashion treat... From McQueen's spaceage animals and crazy platform shoes to Lily Allen singing at Chanel and yet another sex-on-legs show from Balmain, it's been a non-stop visual feast.

And that was never truer than at John Galliano's show last night... While the attention of the gossip press was captivated by new romantics Katy Perry and Russell Brand sitting hand in hand in the front row, the fashion editors present were also on high-alert as they were treated to a spectacularly beautiful parade of clothes.

Although a lot of designers have been embracing the new technology provided by the internet and streaming their shows live online, among them Burberry and Alexander McQueen, Galliano chose to embrace technology in a different way, creating a laser-lit runway which lit up the darkened room... Smoke-filled bubbles then descended from the ceiling as the girls walked and popped around the models, leaving them walking through little clouds of smoke.

It was an exceptional setting for the show which was a pure drop of Galliano glamour. Romantic chiffon dresses in peach, soft yellow, icy blues, black and print, worn with platform shoes over coloured pop socks were layered under short trench jackets, cut to flatter the form. The shorter dresses turned into glamorous red-carpet worthy gowns towards the end, some floaty, others heavily embellished and twinkling under the flashbulbs.

Pure Paris, perfect Galliano.
