A party on a drizzly Tuesday night after a manic London fashion week where everyone is either exhausted or panic packing for Milan the next day doesn't sound like it's going to be that much fun. But when an invitation says it's to be hosted by the super of the supermodels, Natalia Nodinova and Karlie Kloss with a funfair theme in aid of the Naked Heart Foundation, you know that this could be the ultimate game changer. We headed to London's Roundhouse last night to take it all in. Here are our highlights...
The A-lister crowd
When you bump into Calvin Harris on the dancefloor and wolf a hot dog next to Jourdann Dunn you know you're at a hot party. But when Taylor Swift, Cara Delevingne, Lily Donaldson, Stella McCartney and Ellie Goulding rock up together and start bulk buying cookies from Karlie Kloss's Kookie stand you know you're at the hottest party, ever. Add to that Lewis Hamilton, Daisy Lowe, Lindsay Lohan, Whitney Port, Nick Jonas, Otis Ferry and music from Clean Bandit and The Disciples and no wonder it's trending online as the #bestpartyever.
The #FundFair Stalls
With a balloon tunnel, full size Helter Skelter, and contortionists and expert hula hoopers dotted around the venue this was seriously the most impressive funfair we've ever been to. And then there were the stalls. Many luxury brands had teamed up with a celebrity to put their own spin on traditional funfair games. From a Louis Vuitton hook-a-duck with Mariacarla Boscono (where the prizes where fabulous Louis Vuitton handbags) to the Christian Louboutin “High Heeled Olympics” with Daisy Lowe and Florrie Arnold, this was fashion fundraising at its best. We spotted Stephen Jones manning the coconut shy, Edie and Olympia Campbell running the luxury lucky dip from Repossi and Pat McGrath and her team working their makeup magic with haute couture face painting. But it was Natalia Nodinova that attracted the biggest crowd with her Guerlain kissing booth. "I've lost count of how many people I've kissed tonight," she giggled as we chatted to her perched on the helm of her booth. "I'm just so happy everyone is having such a good time. It's been an intense few months of organisation but it's very rewarding to see it all come together. I'm absolutely thrilled by all the support."
The Junk Food
We all know the best part of a fun fair is the fast food and this Fund Fair did not disappoint. We gorged on moreish veggie hotdogs from the Stella McCartney stall, rich hazelnut ice-cream from the Dior cart that was dished up with a supermodel smile by Eva Herzigova and endless Karlie's Kookies (well they are vegan and gluten-free) sponsored by luxury fashion brand Maiyet from Karlie Kloss herself whose stall assistant just happened to be the oh so wonderful Derek Blasberg. Elsewhere, the Russian Haute Couturier Ulyana Sergeenko was dishing up crepes and shots of vodka, Lauren Santo Domingo from Moda Operandi was whizzing up pink candy floss whilst Gizzi Erskine served the most incredible caviar canapes creations that were just begging to be instagrammed (and scoffed!)
