The fashion world was rocked when, in March 2011, John Galliano was sacked from Christian Dior following an outburst in Paris; however, having proven his sobriety, it seems Oscar de la Renta is prepared to forgive his fellow designer and so has offered Galliano a three-week residency at the de la Renta design studio in New York.

In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, Oscar de la Renta revealed: “John and I have known each other for many years and I am a great admirer of his talent. He has worked long and hard on his recovery and I am happy to give him the opportunity to reimmerse himself in the world of fashion.”
The Central Saint Martins graduate has said of Oscar de la Renta’s offer: “I am grateful to Oscar beyond words for inviting me to spend time with him in the familiar surroundings of a design studio.”
Before adding: “His support and faith in me is humbling.”
While it is not known what John Galliano will be working on during his tenure at the studio, he’s all but guaranteed to set fashion pulses racing once more.
