Victoria Beckham, Diane Von Furstenberg and Zac Posen make for a wow-worthy weekend at New York Fashion Week
Victoria Beckham maintained her New York Fashion Week darling status while presentations from Diane Von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY provided a sartorial feast for front rowers Olivia Palermo, Vanessa Hudgens and Leigh Lezark in the Big Apple.
Saturday’s highlights included a graphic hit from Prabal Gurung and an unmistakable Alexander Wang attitude in the form of exaggerated silhouettes in muted shades of grey and black. Monique Lhuillier then celebrated a more ladylike aesthetic with floor sweeping gowns and embellished lace that will have brought a smile to her A-list fan base that includes Kristen Stewart, Amy Adams and Drew Barrymore.
Bright and early come Sunday morning hubby David Beckham and baby Harper were on hand to show their support for Victoria Beckham’s presentation at the New York Public Library. Welcomed with cups of English breakfast tea, fashion fans were treated to strong silhouettes and bold shape complete with oversized shoulders proving that Mrs Beckham is in the industry for the long haul.
Another Brit, Cara Delevingne, kicked off proceedings for DKNY where camel concoctions and lashings of leopard print were punctuated by bold blocks of bright red before making a mad dash to get prepped and ready for the Diane Von Furstenberg runway. There the classic wrap dress got a luxe suede makeover and metallic leathers and a hint of the '70s brought the glam factor to fashion week.
Red carpet favourite Zac Posen did what he does best, providing show-stopping gowns alongside neat 40s-style daywear in the form of fitted jackets with nipped in waists and fur stoles. And at Tommy Hilfiger the Park Avenue Armory checkerboard runway was mirrored in the American icon’s collection with Houndstooth check, Fair Isle weaves and pinstripes layered for maximum impact.
With The Row, Theysken’s Theory, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Donna Karan New York and Reem Acra on the menu today, it’s going to be another fashion frenzy of a day in NYC.
