New Look continues to bat away competition from rivals to retain its high street crown, as the store reports an increase in sales over the Christmas period.
The privately-owned retailer has revealed its sales rose by 1.5 per cent in the seven weeks to December 28. Even more impressively, the store's online sales increased by a massive 62 per cent in the same period. Woah.
Furthermore, while its rivals were offering pre-Christmas sales to try and lure us all to spend their hard-earned cash with them, New Look kept its stock at full price. And still the shoppers came. It seems that we really can't get enough of New Look's wares.
Before Christmas, it was reported that New Look was the most popular store on the high street. In a survey conducted by Dressipi, it was found that 24 per cent of shoppers favoured New Look, with last year's winner Zara coming in a very close second with 23 per cent. New Look more popular then Zara? Who'd have guessed.
Elsewhere on the high street, the story was a bit more mixed. While John Lewis, House of Fraser and Next all reported a healthy increase in sales, it wasn't such good news for M&S, whose sales only went up by 0.5 per cent.
Is New Look your number one high street shopping destination?
