Naomi Campbell, one of the previous faces of the “I’d rather go naked than wear fur” campaign by PeTA, is allegedly back in fur. The supermodel is said to be posing for designer Dennis Basso in his autumn/winter 2009-10 line.
The model was famously dropped by the animal rights group shortly after the mid-Nineties ad campaign launched after wearing fur in a fashion show. The supermodel claimed, however, that she defected from the PeTA campaign stating that they “went too far” in their attacks on Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld.
PeTA currently has a huge celebrity following, including Jessica Biel, Natalie Portman, Dita Von Teese, Paul McCartney and Bryan Adams, who all refuse to wear animal skins or furs. Despite the group’s growing support, Campbell has agreed to model for Basso in ads which debut in September.
