But when the patterns were done, an altogether more grown-up leather story hit the runway in tops, shorts and skirts, while stiff cottons all with strong, clean, volumous lines also made for a striking effect. And not forgetting to reference Spring Summer 2012's biggest trend, for 2013, peplum was given a new twist, added to skirt hems, jacket panels and dress waists with a more simplistic yet statement effect.

Entitling the collection "A Beautiful Dreamer", for Spring Summer 2013 Missoni took inspiration for the elegant but strong feminine silhouettes from Japanese anime heroines - think Princess Mononoke. The classic Missoni intarsia work was present, but had a more gentle, dreamlike edge, drifting down the runway in light organzas, with degrade effect enhanced with scatterings of sparkling sequins. Adding to the other-worldliness of the collection, glistening crystal cuffs adorned necks and wrists, with plexiglas visors adding a playful twist.
