The London Fashion Week designer is the latest name to collaborate with the sportswear brand
Fashion's love affair with the humble trainer looks set to continue, since it was announced that Mary Kantratzou is embarking on a long partnership with Adidas to create a new range entitled Originals by Mary Katrantzou.
Following in the footsteps of Pharrell Williams, Topshop, and, of course, Stella McCartney, Mary Katrantzou will become the next catwalk designer to create a capusle collection for the iconic sportswear label.
With a focus on her signature kaleidoscopic prints and eye-popping colour, Mary's range will not only feature footwear, but also a line of clothes.
'I grew up, like so many other kids around the world, wearing Adidas sneakers and I'm really excited about bringing my vision to such a global brand,' Mary said.
Dirk Schoenberger, Global Creative Director of Adidas's Sport Style Division, said: The collaboration between adidas and Mary Katrantzou merges the exceptional talent of one of the most interesting designers of today and a company that embraces many different cultures from sports, pop, music and fashion. I admire Mary’s extraordinary sense of printing techniques, colours and silhouette that will bring another amazing new aesthetic to the adidas originals women's collection.'
Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou will be in stores in November 2014. Until then, stay tuned for images from the collection, which we'll bring you as soon as they land.
