Harvey Weinstein, Rachel Zoe and Tamara Mellon all gave their backing to the brand when it was relaunched back in February last year under the creative direction of Marco Zanini - but for whatever reason, it seems that the formula still wasn't quite right.
The last two collections from Halston have been under the direction of a nameless team after the concequent departure of Zanini - so it was only a matter of time before a new creative director was announced.
Enter Marios Schwab, who's going to bring his edgy London street style to the sleek and sexy fashion house.
"While Halston's DNA is crucial to its future success, I very much wish to move the brand forward and make it relevant for today," says Schwab. "Simple, effortless pieces realized via modern [fabrics] and technology will play a large role in how I will redefine the brand. The clothes will echo the heritage but with a very distinctive, modern feel that is completely new and completely now.''
The Central St Martins graduate will take up his new job on July 1, but fans of his own label needn't worry - it looks as though he's got his work cut out for him... As well as putting his creative energies into a new collection for Halston, the designer has confirmed that he plans on continuing to design for his own self-titled brand at the same time.
