Nowadays, it seems a regular star-lead ad campaign just simply won't cut the mustard. Designer house Christian Dior has gone one step further by shooting an intriguing mini-film shot by Olivier Dahan and starring Marion Cotillard, to promote their spring summer '09 collection.
The Film Noir-entitled The Lady Noire Affair is inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock thrillers of the Sixties, so think plenty of gruesome gangsters, beautiful femme fatales and suspicious goings-on in dimly-lit streets. The storyline? The mysterious Lady Dior (played by the ever-gorgeous Marion) finds herself in the midst of a top-secret police investigation, which ultimately boils down to one question... Just what is she hiding in her bag?
The intrigue doesn't stop there. The cinematic campaign sees Lady Dior travelling through four different cities - with each city being revealed on different dates. The first is Paris (naturally) and stills show the French actress shot on that most iconic of landmarks, the Eiffel Tower, decked out in the finest spring/summer pieces and clutching that iconic Lady Dior handbag... Sigh... C'est magnifique, non?
Unfortunately, the full film isn't released until May 20, but we managed to get our hands on an exciting behind-the-scenes preview of the six-minute drama to whet your appetite. Just how chic does it promise to be? We've suddenly come over très Parisienne...
