As he returns to focus solely on his eponymous label, after a 15-year stint at Louis Vuitton, Marc is certainly beginning with a bang by casting the provocative singer in his new campaign.
And although this may seem an unlikely collaboration, the warning signs that Marc and Miley would team up have been there for a while.
Speaking in an interview last year, the 21-year-old singer showed her admiration for the designer: “I work a lot with Marc Jacobs. He kind of brought me into fashion when I was 16, that was when I started being around him and learning from him.
'[My look] “has to be sexy and strong… I feel like Marc does that so well.'
And it's undeniable that some of Miley's best looks have come courtesy of Jacobs. The Wrecking Ball singer earned a place on Time's best-dressed list of 2013 thanks to a beautiful, emerald green Marc Jacobs gown. And she made a high fashion statement at last year's Punk-themed Met Gala in a black mesh creation by the designer.
It's clear Jacobs enjoys dressing the Adore You singer, so casting her in his campaign was the logical next step.
Taking to the Marc Jacobs' Twitter page, the brand tweeted an exclusive first look of the campaign with the caption: Secret's out, @MileyCyrus stars in the MJ SS14 Campaign shot by David Sims!
Miley is dressed in a navy and burgundy dress in the picture, and looks decidedly more downcast than her usual tongue-waggling self.
Miley also took to her own Instagram page to share another image of the campaign, in which she appears wearing a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses that will no doubt sell out in no time.
What do you think of the new campaign?
