Marc by Marc Jacobs has undergone a huge transformation in the last year under the creative and design direction of Katie Hillier and Luella Bartley, and what better way to herald in a new era than with a campaign featuring never seen before faces?
But rather than casting rising stars from the fashion or film world, Hillier and Bartley looked to Instagram to find the next face (or, rather, faces) of Marc by Marc.
After putting out a call for wannabe models on social media, and receiving 70,000 responses, Katie and Luella found 30 finalists for the campaign before flying out 9 models to New York where they were styled by Katie Grand and shot by David Sims for the campaign. Not bad for first timers.
The result is a an ad campaign that is young, fresh, edgy and eccentric – in short, all the things that Marc by Marc Jacobs stands for.
