Lulu Guinness, the woman who famously put the fun into fashion accessories with her unique handbag designs - from the infamous siren-red pursed lips clutch, to the kooky eyed cat handbag - celebrated 20 years in the fashion industry earlier this week.
The veteran designer arrived at the Victoria & Albert museum appropriately dressed in a wacky outfit, designed by the equally playful Giles Deacon. Lulu strategically placed her lip clutch across her violet frock, which was adorned with Pacman eyes and sharp shoulders to complete the outfit's ‘face'.
The designer used the occasion to launch her Scholarship for MA Accessories/Artefact Design at Cordwainers at London College of Fashion which encourages young designers to realise their potential through professional studies, with a focus on Guinnesse's area of expertise, accessories. And that was not all Lulu had up her creative sleeve for the momentous aooccassion; she also introduced "the world's first automated handbag", that's a singing Birdcage handbag to you and me - and we at Instyle towers can't wait to see who steps out with that piece of arm candy first!
