Made In Chelsea star Louise Thompson has taken on a new role, co-designing a denim line with her friend Edward Page. Pocket London’s first drop, a mini-collection of classic styles in spring colours, is testing the water ahead of a full launch in the autumn. Presented with the fact that the average girl buys three new pairs of jeans every year (who, us?), we asked Louise , what is it that we all love about denim?!
Why did you decide to create a denim line?
Denim is a style staple – it never goes out of fashion. We wanted to create a line that would bridge between high-street and designer, which we believed was missing in the market.
Jeans are a classic, how can you make them look on-trend this season?
Wear them with fluoro colours. I would team light coloured jeans with a white tuxedo jacket, a lime neon belt, a bright statement necklace and some sling back neon peep toe shoes from Giuseppe Zannoti .
How would you describe your own style?
I like to wear things that make me feel good. If I am going for a casual look I will usually be in an over-sized jacket, jeans and wedged Isabel Marant trainers. If I’m going for a night out, I’ll wear a little black dress and you won’t catch me in anything less than six inch heels!
How should a Chelsea girl style her jeans?
She would wear them with a fitted blazer, French Sole ballet pumps and an oversized Phillip Lim satchel bag.
If you could steal another MIC girl’s wardrobe who would you pick?
I love the way that both Millie Mackintosh and Rosie Fortescue dress – they always look flawless. If I was given the chance, I would happily steal either of their styles – I definitely would have fun raiding their wardrobes.
If you could re-style any of your co-stars who would you pick?
Everyone has their own unique sense of style which I think translates well both on and off the show. Mark Francis always dresses smart - it would be good to see him in a pair of jeans. Maybe we will get him to model for us if we ever do a men’s line!
What can we expect next season?
For the AW13 collection we have a lot more design details, focusing on animal and tribal prints, so it’s full of statement pieces. We have colourful all-over prints alongside more subtle styles with simple detailing down the outside leg. We just launched the range to buyers and the response has already been overwhelming!
