Day 2 of London Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2013 began with a sophisticated offering from DAKS and with Julien Macdonald, Moschino cheap and chic, Issa London, House of Holland and Rihanna’s high street show for River Island still to come it’s set to be a fashion-packed day.
A Friday night at London Fashion Week wouldn’t be the same without PPQ and this season was full of bright surprises with technicolour floral prints splashed across leggings, bodycon Lycra dresses and maxis, while pea coats arrived in a medley of deep pigment shades. Up next were black dresses - babydoll, cocktail, ball gowns - all festooned with organza layering and sheer ribbon detailing, giving more than a nod to 80s-by-way-of-50s prom puffball skirts.
Soon after, Sass & Bide design duo Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton showcased their AW13 offering and went back to basics with a collection featuring a subtle colour palette of black, white and dove grey. Bold lines and caged bodices were contrasted with soft sheer fabrics, while bright eye-popping yellow accessories clashed against monochrome and touches of futuristic metallic added the final flourishes. Elegant floor-length dresses and mirror embellished pieces begged to be worn during the festive period.
At 9am a sleepy fash-pack were given a stylish wake-up call by DAKS as models hit the runway wearing a sophisticated collection packed to the brim withchic tailored separates. While over at Antipodium, it was all about sex, lies and surveillance with models in super-short shorts, statement knits and bright faux pony overcoats.
