You might not recognise the name Misa Harada, but you’ll know her hats, which have graced A-list heads from the Scissor Sisters to the Rolling Stones; and featured in the V&A’s Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones exhibition.
The millinery delights have a firm place in pop culture: Misa is responsible for Jennifer Aniston’s wedding veil; Britney’s look on the cover of the Blackout album; Janet Jackson’s headgear in the ‘All For You’ video, and many pieces of headgear for Sex and the City and Ally McBeal.
As a designer at British Royal-appointed milliner Frederick Fox, Misa collaborated with top-name brands such as Katharine Hamnett and Thierry Mugler; while under her own name she’s created pieces for Hermès, Missoni and Bora Aksu.
The men’s line launched in 2005, and the new s/s 2010 collection, entitled Uberlandia, features colour and texture with old-school tailored panamas.
