It’s only just kicked off but we’re liking what we’ve seen of Kate Middleton’s Royal Tour wardrobe.
There’s been a big hype around it in the run-up to her and Will’s flight to Mumbai — it was announced she won’t be wearing tights (understandably, given the 30 degree heat), apparently she’s taking 12-15 outfits (including a pair of £106 Hillmaster walking boots) and her team scouted out the route in advance to make sure the outfits were absolute perfection.
She gave us a sneak peak at what was planned before she went, at a reception at Kensington Palace where she wore a dress from India-born designer Saloni.
As expected, she kicked off with a British designer, a red Alexander McQueen dress for her visit to the Taj Hotel. Then, again — as had been talked about — she changed into a dress from Indian designer Anita Dongre and playing a pretty impressive game of cricket with Sachin Tendulkar — all in a pair of her trusty Monsoon wedges.
For the charity gala, on her first evening in Mumbai she mega-glammed up in bright blue Jenny Packham.
Though her dresses have been excellent, what we’re talking about is her jewellery — her earrings, specifically. It’s not a first for Kate, who quite often wears a pair of drop earrings, but it does pay elegant tribute to the classic Bollywood style.
First, for her uber active cricket session, she accessorised her printed midi dress with £8 Accessorize earrings. The ‘Kate effect’ happened, errrgain, and they’ve sold out, but there are similar styles available on the site.
Then she went totally other end, at the charity gala, with a pair of £2,500 lapis and diamond earrings made by Indian designer Amrapli which matched her Jenny Packham dress pretty impressively.
With five days left of the tour, we can’t wait to see what she wears…
